FRANKENBLOG!

It's ALIVE!

The Blog Lives!  Thank you to everyone who asked if I was going to continue blogging about our merry adventures in Jolly 'Ol England!  Frankly, I just got kinda bored of it (SQUIRREL!).

BUT...we only have a mere 9ish months left of our Expat Adventure until we officially become residents of the great state of TEXAS, so I decided to resurrect the blog.  Not to worry, I will not bore you with backtracking over the past year or so where I languished in the British cold and dark catching up on quality television programs like Dance Moms (Team Kristi Ray), My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, and Toddlers and Tiaras (no judging, these are long winters, people).

So here is the short version, and then we will all be back on the same page! Woohoo!

JULY 2012
Some people TOTALLY made a mess of our pool.  You know who you are.
WHAT WE LEARNED
Ice luges can melt in extreme heat but can be repaired using paper napkins.

AUGUST 2012
Summer Olympics! We saw Beach Volleyball, Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming, Gymastics and Soccer
WHAT WE LEARNED
It is totally cool to be American.

SEPTEMBER 2012
We visited Ireland...for the culture.
WHAT WE LEARNED
Guinness is absolutely better fresh.  Not lyin'.  Plus, Georgia will dance an Irish jig on cue.

OCTOBER 2012
Augusto and I visit Amsterdam..maybe my favorite city in Europe.
WHAT WE LEARNED
Lots of stuff that is not good to repeat on a family-oriented blog.

OCTOBER 2012
Halloween and a trip to the Maldives
WHAT WE LEARNED
Prepare to be disappointed in British Trick or Treating unless you like snack chips and spare change.
Plus: Hours of reality TV watching will pay off in Halloween costume inspiration.

NOVEMBER 2012
We visit Salzburg, Austria for the Christmas Markets
WHAT WE LEARNED
Austria is really cold in winter, but they kick ass in the giant pretzel and mulled wine department.
Plus, I'm pretty sure I should have been Austrian.

DECEMBER 2012
We visit Brugge, Belgium
WHAT WE LEARNED
You can drive there from England! Plus, the chocolate rocks.

JANUARY 2013
We visit Prague, Czech Republic
WHAT WE LEARNED
It is insanely beautiful.  There's a big clock there that people wait for hours to see. That is all.

FEBRUARY 2013
Skiing in St. Anton, Austria - home of best Apres-Ski in the world
WHAT WE LEARNED
Drinking and skiing is dangerous. Watching people drink and ski is downright hilarious.

MARCH 2013
We visit Venice, Italy
WHAT WE LEARNED
If shopping for Venetian masks with your kids, avoid the store that made them for "Eyes Wide Shut".
It has a pictorial that is not PG-13.

APRIL 2013
We visit Florence, Siena and the Tuscan Countryside
WHAT WE LEARNED
There is never enough Italy. Or enough pasta.  But you will eventually pay the price...in a bigger jeans size.

MAY 2013
Georgia takes a trip to Hastings and Canterbury
WHAT WE LEARNED
You make great friends as an expat! But they move away and can't be replaced!

JUNE 2013
We meet our great friends Debi, Tom and Gracey Thomas in Barcelona and Mallorca.
WHAT WE LEARNED:
Why Spanish people need a daily siesta.

JULY 2013
We spend most of the summer on Lake Travis, Texas with some of our AMAZING friends and family - old and new, near and far.
WHAT WE LEARNED
To remember to take pictures so you are not at the mercy of the single unflattering boat shot that was taken by a Blackberry.

AUGUST 2013
We go back to...drum roll...ITALY!  The pasta missed us. This time we had Grandma Stella and Grandpa Felix along for the ride!
WHAT WE LEARNED
No, really, there is no such thing as too much Italy.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
Somewhere along the line we picked up another puppy (Charlie) and another kitten (Piper).
WHAT WE LEARNED
To embrace chaos.

WHAT WE REALLY LEARNED:
Home is where the people you love rest their heads at night.
The people you meet along the way are treasures beyond any adventure.
Having more friends around you just means more fun around you.
Italy is awesome.

And that, I believe, is a year (plus) in the life of Team Sasso.  Hopefully, the blog will not be so woefully neglected in the future!  Lots of love to everyone, near and far!
